Turntable.fm shutting down DJ service, to focus on live event platform
In some unfortunate news, Turntable.fm will be shutting down its social DJ service due to high costs and a lack of visitors. Instead, Turntable.fm will focus on their Turntable Live platform that allows for the streaming of live concerts. If you have tracks left behind with their DJ service, don’t worry. The service will be shutting down on December 2. Turntable.fm says “all your playlists and songs can be exported to Spotify or CSV” before then. For its final day, the company will be handing out commemorative t-shirts as well as hosting a party.Source: Turntable.fmVia: TechCrunch Come comment on this article: Turntable.fm shutting down DJ service, to focus on live event platform via Android News, Rumours, and Updates http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/AndroidNewsGoogleAndroidForums/~3/IeWddFvELLc/

GTA San Andreas mobile app release shock happiness
If you love Rockstar games, especially Grand Theft Auto ones, then this will be what you have been waiting for. GTA San Andreas apps for mobile will be releasing soon 10 years after it released.Rockstar normally pushes out the GTA games to mobile 10 years after the original was released; it is all part of its mobile versions of the Grand Theft Auto series as “10th Anniversary” editions.GTA 3 was released 10 years after the 2001 original, and then came GTA Vice City, which came to mobile 10 years later in 2002, but now Rockstar have said that GTA San Andreas will be releasing soon. This is a bit of a shock really considering this game was released in 2004, which means it should release on mobile platforms in 2014 and not soon. The new Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas mobile app will be releasing on Android, iOS and Windows Phone next month, this is great because its coming to the three main platforms.Rockstar have said this will be the best looking version of San Andreas yet, the apps will feature full support for controllers using iOS 7's controller support and on-screen controls are going to be improved with new contextually visible controls. Are you looking forward to the new GTA San Andreas mobile app, if so please let us know what platform you will be installing it on? via Phones Review http://www.phonesreview.co.uk/2013/11/27/gta-san-andreas-mobile-app-release-shock-happiness/
Blackberry lands deals to put BBM on Android smartphones “out of the box”
Blackberry has announced another step in their move to see BBM deployed as a communication platform outside of the Blackberry ecosystem. After a successful launch of the BBM app for Android and iOS during October, Blackberry is back with news that they have struck deals with several Android smartphone OEMs to have the app pre-installed on new devices. The companies that are named by Blackberry include Be, Brightstar, Celkon, EVERCROSS, IMO, Micromax, Mito, Snexian, Spice, TECNO, TiPhone and Zen. These companies will make the devices available in markets in Africa, India, Indonesia, Latin America, and the Middle East staring some time in December. You might note that the major manufacturers you may be used to seeing, like Samsung, HTC, LG, Sony or some of the up and coming Chinese manufacturers like Xiaomi are not on the list. Of course, users with devices from other companies or other regions can still download and install the BBM app from Google Play.source: Cult of Android Come comment on this article: Blackberry lands deals to put BBM on Android smartphones “out of the box” via Android News, Rumours, and Updates http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/AndroidNewsGoogleAndroidForums/~3/fvcPjoaanHs/

iPhone 6 design idea tries to outdo Samsung
Going on recent rumours surrounding the next batch of iPhone models for 2014 there is a good chance we will see a bigger screen size for the iPhone 6, but the design idea we have for you today tries to outdo Samsung. The image and video you can see on this page is the work of Arthur Reis who brought us another iPhone 6 concept a couple of days ago. This one as you can see has a wraparound display and comes as fierce rival Samsung gets a patent for similar technology. This iPhone 6 design has specs that include a 4.4-inch Full HD unbreakable Sapphire wraparound touchscreen display. There is a new capacitive home button that includes an improved Touch ID fingerprint scanner.Camera wise we have a 12-megapixel unit on the rear with a bigger sensor and f/1.8 lens that is capable of 1080p video capture at 120fps, while around the front there is a 5-megapixel Full HD shooter. The device is thinner and lighter than ever before and the battery will now last up to 20 hours even using LTE. As you can see the wraparound display brings a number of controls to the edges of the screen such as the volume rocker along with shortcuts to the features such as the camera app, flashlight, alarm, music controls, and calculator. While this design may be a little farfetched at least for the time being we could easily see things like this eventually, but there will be some concern on the edges of the display being prone to scratches or something worse.Do you like this iPhone 6 design?Source: ConceptsiPhone.via Phones Review http://www.phonesreview.co.uk/2013/11/23/iphone-6-design-idea-tries-to-outdo-samsung/

LG G Flex drop test, curved doesn’t mean unbreakable
While we have seen more Full HD displays added to smartphones this year we have also seen some with different shapes courtesy of LG and Samsung, and today we have an LG G drop test video for your viewing pleasure where a curved display doesn’t mean unbreakable. We have seen a number of drop test videos over the last few months with a whole range of desirable mobile devices possibly meeting their maker after crashing down to a hard service, and the latest punishment is dished out to the LG G Flex. The video is courtesy of the guys over at Android Authority and the device features the self healing rear, so we get to see how this stands up in testing. To start with the smartphone is dropped onto its back at a height of around 4 feet and as usual the sound of the device hitting the solid floor is not for the fainthearted. This leaves some small marks close to the edge of the rear cover before we move onto the drop onto the bottom edge of the device, which produces an even more horrible sound upon impact. The device bounces quite high travelling some distance away from the point of impact. We see fragments coming away from the device which soon become apparent that these came from the display, which is left with some long cracks running the length of it. This may have been the result of the high bounce and not the initial impact and the device still works. The video now moves onto the dreaded screen drop which causes more cracking to the display that does still work but you now run the risk of cutting your fingers though from the cracks. Towards the end of the video we get a look at the self healing back to see how it stands up but we won’t spoil this for you.via Phones Review http://www.phonesreview.co.uk/2013/11/23/lg-g-flex-drop-test-curved-doesnt-mean-unbreakable/

Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8.9 tablet video review collection
lly refresh their range of devices on an annual basis but that’s not to say that the older hardware is no good anymore just because a new version has come out, and with that in mind today we have the Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8.9 tablet in a video review collection. The device may be over a year old in some regions but the Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8.9 is still available and a worthy device and could be ideal Christmas gift for someone or even for yourself. Below we have embedded a number of videos that are reviewing the device. It has been available for a while now and is currently priced at £179/$229 for the 16GB version and the first video we have for you is almost 8 minutes long. The device has modest but likeable styling and the matte finish of the rear is liked and feels nice and sturdy with a slim form factor but it does carry some weight. The display is found to be clear and detailed with some nice viewing angles that will also be fine when using in bright lighting conditions. We only have a front facing camera and we get a look at the various ports and buttons.Up next we have a video that is over 21 minutes long that begins running down the specs compared to the smaller 7-inch version. We see a number of apps that have been sideloaded onto the device such as Google Chrome, and we also see the eBook reading experience that the device brings to users before moving onto video content. We now have another video for you that is over 30 minutes long that starts off by talking how the device fits into the tablet ecosystem, and see it alongside tablets such as the original iPad mini with various features compared.Various things are looked at such as the web browser and keyboard and how the screen auto-rotates, and things that are like and disliked are discussed. The final video is giving us a quicker look at the device but features a good look on how the screen performs. Are you looking to purchase the Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8.9?via Phones Review http://www.phonesreview.co.uk/2013/11/27/amazon-kindle-fire-hd-8-9-tablet-video-review-collection/

PhotoBox app for Android in need of update
Over the last few years and especially more recently there has become more ways for users to interact and share content to their social networking accounts via a mobile device. There are a number of different applications available on the smartphone platforms, but the PhotoBox app for Android is in need of an update. There are lots of apps now that can allow users to share images or videos quickly to their Facebook or Twitter accounts, but the PhotoBox offering on Android despite being popular hasn’t seen an update since April of last year. When you consider a number of new offerings are now available with a number of big titles constantly being updated with new features, it’s strange that there has been no update. Although it has to be remembered that this app is free and not to be confused with an app of a similar name on the iOS platform that allows users to order gifts using personal photographs. This app does allow users to instantly share images to their Facebook accounts though and add effects to photos. Users can also browse tagged photos as well as removing unwanted tags of themselves.Images can be downloaded in batches or singly along with the option of Liking and adding comments to Facebook photos. Images can also be shared via email and for more information or to download head over to Google Play.Do you use this app?via Phones Review http://www.phonesreview.co.uk/2013/11/23/photobox-app-for-android-in-need-of-update/
US Cellular, Sprint Galaxy S III receiving Android 4.3 update
Good news for Samsung Galaxy S III owners on Sprint or US Cellular. You can now go ahead and grab the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for your device! There’s no detailed information on what US Cellular’s update brings with the exception of a software update. The Sprint variant, however, will also gain compatibility with the Galaxy Gear. While it may not be Android 4.4 KitKat, it is certainly welcome for a handset that was released almost two years ago. And if you are wondering if the handset will get KitKat, a leaked schedule points to March or April.Source: US Cellular, Sprint Come comment on this article: US Cellular, Sprint Galaxy S III receiving Android 4.3 update via Android News, Rumours, and Updates http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/AndroidNewsGoogleAndroidForums/~3/IpjKvbnb-T0/

iPhone 5C orders reportedly cut as price dropped
a Leading up to the keynote speech by Apple’s Tim Cook we had months of speculation that the company were going to release a budget version of its smartphone, and then they unveiled the not so cheap iPhone 5C which has reportedly now had its orders cut as the price drops again.Last month we heard that Apple had supposedly cut orders for production of the iPhone 5C which came after earlier reports of the price being cut for the device, which led to a debate on whether Apple were looking to address slow sales of the device. Now a new report is suggesting that the company has again cut orders for the device by up to 75%, while Foxconn’s Zhengzhou plant is only producing around 8k to 9k units each week even though it has the ability to produce 50,000 handsets a week. There is even speculation over in China that the handset could be discontinued next year according to supply chain sources, but others think it will continue but in much lower quantities. Again retailers are reporting sales of the handset are small when compared to the iPhone 5S with a 78% to 21% in favour of the flagship iPhone.According to grey market imports in the country via Taobao has revealed that prices continue to drop, which previously the iPhone 5C were fetching between 3,000 to 3,500 Yuan, but now this has dropped to between 2,500 to 3,000 Yuan and some are going for as low as 2,300.If Apple were to cut the official price by a significant amount next year it may start to sell well, but given the fact the device is not that much cheaper than the iPhone 5S it’s no wonder consumers are ignoring the handset. This could get even worse now that Google has launched the Motorola Moto G that offers some great specs at a really low unlocked asking price.Do you think the iPhone 5C is a waste of time?Source: Unwired View.via Phones Review http://www.phonesreview.co.uk/2013/11/15/iphone-5c-orders-reportedly-cut-as-price-dropped/

The US variant of the Moto G will launch with Android 4.4 KitKat
a Here’s some good news if you were planning on picking up a Moto G when it launches in the US next January; it will come with Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, no software update needed. We had initially heard rumors that the device might launch with 4.4, but when it was announced, Motorola confirmed 4.3 for the device. However, since the update was slated for early 2014 anyway and the US version of the device isn’t being released at the same time as other devices, it’s apparently given Motorola and Google enough time to get the software up to snuff to launch with. This is definitely good news and makes a compelling argument for the sub-$200 smartphone. It’s certainly not going to be able to compete with the Nexus 5 in benchmarks and pure processing power, but it’ll be able to say it’s one of the few devices that saw a KitKat update in a timely manner.Anybody picking one of these up next year?source: 9to5 Google Come comment on this article: The US variant of the Moto G will launch with Android 4.4 KitKat via Android News, Rumours, and Updates http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/AndroidNewsGoogleAndroidForums/~3/pWe9ya0nwr0/
